My apologies for the lack of posting lately, but things have been really busy! We’ve had a lot of dogs come and go and today we are at full capacity! We really want to get these sweet dogs adopted so feel free to check them out! And, as always, we will share with you who has found their fur-ever home!!
Willow is a Southern gal with loads of charm. Just a baby and 10lbs, Willow was dumped at a high kill shelter with her five siblings. She is a Dachshund mixed with Min Pin? Beautiful cream face with legs a bit longer than an average Dachshund. Willow is a puppy who needs lots of social and behavioral encouragement. She is a little shy at first. Willow is not friendly towards other dogs so for her to be an only dog would be ideal. Energetic and playful. Willow has a beautiful smile and will bring years of loving friendship to her loving furever home!
Chloe is a doxie diva who needs a loving home. When we got her she was extremely overweight and had infected swollen feet which made it hard for her to get around. She is fully recovered and is back to her spunky self. She has quite a goofy personality. She is a loving dog who gets along well with kids and doesn’t seem to mind dogs either. She does have some toy agression and doesn’t share well but we are working on that (mainly just with squeeky balls). Overall she is a sweetheart, loves to be around people and loves to sleep with her lamby.
Chloe was also featured on a local radio show! You can check out the video from the show here (you will need to copy and paste)
This lovely little lady is Gracie May! Gracie is a happy, low key, petite pup that enjoys cuddling and running around the back yard. Gracie is VERY protective of her people so she needs to be introduced to new people slowly and carefully. Once she gets to know you, she warms up quickly and will add you to her favorite people list! She is great with dogs and cats but would not do well in a family with small children. She is housebroken and will whimper to let you know that she needs to go out.
Beans came to The Long Dog Retreat Dachshund Rescue because her owner is undergoing long term medical treatments. Beans is approximately a 10 yo black and tan mini dachshund female. She would do best in a home without young children, however she is very affectionate with adults. She’s very smart and listens very well. Do not let her age fool you! This little gal is full of spunk and loves to run after you in the yard.
OTIS DEXTER WIGGLEBUNS:
Otis Dexter Wigglebuns is an adorable male dachshund pup. He is red with a white blaze on his chest and cute little white markings on his feet. He is neutered, up to date on shots and ready for a home. He is still a baby and will need a bit of behavior and potty training which should be easy because he is very smart and eager to please. There may be a tiny bit of chihuahua in Otis Dexter’s family lineage but we are unsure. He is tiny and long like a doxie but occasionally his left ear stick up. LOL!! He needs to go to a home with no children because he has nipped at them in the past. He would need to be crated when children/grandchildren visit.
Oliver is a 9 year old chocolate/tan long hair dapple dachshund. He is good with other dogs, scared of cats and CANNOT be placed in a home with children under 12. He is playful, cuddly and likes to play ball. He gets nervous if left alone too long.
There is a video of Oliver on our website thelongdogretreat.org if you are more interested in him! Just go to the “Meet our Dogs” section and click on Oliver!
Johnny Mathis is known in rescue as “Big Johnny”. He is a little on the husky side. Because of his weight he is on a bit of a diet. He also has a common condition in humans called diverticulosis. It can also happen in dogs. Because of this he has to have fiber added to his food and be kept on a healthy diet. Johnny came into rescue after his human died unexpectedly. He came into rescue with his brother Frank Sinatra. They do not have to be adopted together but they do like other dogs. Johnny is smart, independent and fun. He has not been tested with cats. Ok with kids over 8 years old. Johnny is about 75% potty trained and knows how to use a doggy door.
Frank Sinatra would like to sing you a tune! He is a real charmer and loves to snuggle, play fetch and watch old movies. Frank Sinatra sadly had to come to rescue after his owner passed away unexpectedly. Frank gets along well with other dogs and came to rescue with his brother Johnny Mathis. They do not have to be adopted together but they would like to have a doggy friend. Frank is about 75% potty trained. Not tested with cats. Okay with kids over 8.
We are so thankful to those of you who have adopted our sweet dogs! Here is who has found their forever homes!!!
